STEPUP4 Mental Health with Mind of the Student

We are thrilled to announce the return of STEPUP4 Mental Health for its third year!
In collaboration with RunThrough, Mind of the Student (MOTS) is hosting a 5K and 10K charity run at the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford. This event is a powerful opportunity to support youth mental health and highlight the incredible work of smaller mental health charities.

STEPUP4 Mental Health is more than just a run – it’s a movement. This annual event brings together passionate individuals and communities to:

  • Raise awareness of youth mental health challenges.
  • Celebrate the contributions of smaller charities working to empower young people.
  • Shine a spotlight on the need for increased mental health support and education in schools and communities.

Join #TeamMOTS and Help Empower Young People to Speak About Their Mental Health

By joining #TeamMOTS, your fundraising efforts will help us equip young people in secondary schools and community with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to recognise and address their mental health needs.

At Mind of the Student (MOTS), we believe that every young person should feel empowered to talk about their mental health, whether with friends, teachers, family, or professionals.

Through our school-wide mental health programmes and community-led initiatives, we create environments where mental health is not only prioritised but protected and promoted.

At Mind of the Student, we deliver school-wide mental health workshops and community-led programmes that equip young people with the confidence, knowledge, and skills to manage their mental health effectively.

Why Our Work is Needed

A silent, mental health epidemic is unfolding in secondary schools – right now.

  • 1 in 6 young people in England experienced a mental health problem in 2020, up from 1 in 9 in 2017.
  • More than a quarter of young people in Wales feel they lack mental health support at school.
  • 78% of young people said that secondary school had made their mental health worse.

These statistics highlight an urgent need for change. At MOTS, we are committed to creating a culture where mental health is openly discussed and supported, helping young people feel safe, understood, and empowered to thrive.

Mind of the Student was founded by Kieran and Jaylan, who experienced firsthand  the challenges of navigating school with mental health struggles. Their lived experiences inspired MOTS, aiming to ensure that no young person feels unsupported or alone.

When You Join #TeamMOTS, You’ll Receive:

  • Help and support from a dedicated charity contact
  • Tips and resources to maximise your fundraising efforts
  • A Mind of the Student branded running top
